Increasing the value of Argan oil is a civic action through aid to rural populations of southern Morocco : Conciliate ecology and the employment of rural populations

Thanks to it’s strong root system, the Argan tree protects the soil from erosion, which threatens to turn a large area of Morocco into desert. By enhancing the status of this tree, which is an endangered species, we can contribute to the preservation of Argan land (Arganeraie), which since, 1998 figures in the UNESCO’s Biosphere reserves list.

By enhancing the importance of the Argan trees, the Berber populations of the region, will invest themselves further in reforestation and will be encouraged to protect them as a precious natural resource and will therefore contribute to the preservation of the Argan land (Arganeraie) which are threatened by desertification.

The economic valuation of the Argan tree by means of our partnersproducts, could be a way in which to contribute to durably revive an integrated rural forestry. In fact, when trees supply products which are marketable or can be consumed by live stock, the population is more reassured and invests more naturally in these trees, which provide them with a revenue.

Support fair employments

Argan & Prickly Pear Seed oils allows Berber women of the region to earn a living, to occupy a real place in the economic life and to increase their autonomy. The women, who constitute the core of the society, are fulfilled and are proud to work, as they are better respected. Their revenue allows them to send their children to school, to improve their housing conditions, to eat better and to be clothed correctly and to have medical care.

ATELIA Sara Company´s Moroccan partner buys the fruit from the producers, guaranteeing a fair revenue for the women of the region, for whom it is the main source of income.
